Fugitive Arrested After 5 Months

Douglas Herich, named to the Napa Valley Crime Stoppers list in early September 2011, was arrested Tuesday by Walnut Creek police.

After five months on the Napa Valley Crime Stoppers list, Douglas Joseph Herich of Napa was arrested Tuesday by Walnut Creek police, according to an update from the Napa County Sheriff's Office.

Herich was wanted on a warrant for misdemeanor failure to appear on charges of resisting an officer and public intoxication, according to the Crime Stoppers posting last September.

The charges stemmed from an incident at Chefs' Market in early July 2011 when Herich was taken into custody after Napa police said he interfered with the arrest of a young woman on a felony warrant.

Following his July arrest, but before he was named to the list of fugitives, Herich submitted a letter to the editor that was published on Napa Patch.

In it, Herich wrote that government and religion "have no legitimate power or control over those who do not accept their authority and power."

Old Doug sounds like a "sovereign citizen". They are only slightly delusional.
