On Friday, Napa Police say 27-year-old parolee Steve Montgomery of Vallejo went to his ex-girlfriend's home in the 2900 block of Sosocol Avenue, the pair went to American Canyon, then eventually returned to Napa, where police say Montegmery used a replica firearm to keep his ex-girlfriend hostage in her home. Montgomery is suspected of threatening the woman and choking her during the alleged incident.

Police say one of the woman's friends at some point found out about the situation and called police, who arrived at roughly 1:40 p.m. on Saturday, and managed to secure the woman to safety, because police say Montgomery let her outside. Montgomery surrendered a short while later to police, and the woman did not require medical attention, according to police.

Montgomery was booked at the county jail.
