Hail falling at Lincoln and Soscol avenues late Thursday afternoon.

A storm cell brought hail, rain, thunder and lightning to town for a brief but intense spring squall late Thursday afternoon, followed by the return of cloudy blue skies and temperatures that sank with the sun.

The mercury dropped so low overnight that many Napans woke to the sound of the vineyard fans that activated early Friday morning.

On Thursday, Chris Eldridge recorded this strangely hypnotic video of the hail falling at Lincoln and Soscol Avenues.

And Browns Valley resident Cathy Felder shared with us a photo of pea-sized hail on the back of her black dog Lincoln.

"He thought it was awesome that balls were falling from the sky," she said.

We were driving through Fairfield and there was so much hale the roadsides and rooftops were covered. Came home Thurs to Brown's Valley and saw we had a light dusting all over our front yard. Pretty cool. Hate to live in ice and snow but love to see it! We are in Bozeman Mont for the weekend and piles of the white stuff. Yep. See and leave is my motto for snow and ice! Ha
