After two months in her new location on First Street, owner Mimi Glavin of the Playful Garden threw a get-acquainted party Monday afternoon.

Though the weather outside was chilly and wet, Glavin’s garden-themed shop was blooming with good cheer as guests chatted over glasses of wine and ample hors d’oeuvres.

Neighboring merchants, representatives of both the Visitors Center and the Welcome Center and members of local media were among the partygoers who enjoyed the spread, the company and soft music from a string trio of two guitarists and a violinist.

It was just the latest in a series of lively downtown events including the monthly First Friday fiesta, which on May 6 included the opening of a new gallery above Wildcat Vintage Clothing.
